October 3, 2019. With October move-ins just around the corner, Hook & Ladder Apartments hosted a hardhat tour on September 27. Attendees included Ward 1 Council Member Kevin Reich; representatives of the Holland Neighborhood Association; the Northeast Minneapolis Arts Association; Board members of the Northeast Minneapolis Arts District; the Passive Building consultant who worked on the building; Frerichs Construction, the general contractor; and LHB Architects.
Becky Landon and Claire VanderEyk from Newport Midwest hosted the group. Those in attendance learned about how the building built to Passive Building certification standards achieves outstanding energy efficiency and exceptional air quality.
“With move-ins starting in mid-October, it’s exciting and fun to show neighborhood residents how we combine affordable housing with a beautiful, highly energy efficient building for optimum resident comfort,” says President Becky Landon of Newport Midwest. “I can’t wait to see our residents move into the building and create a new community in the heart of the NE Minneapolis Arts District.”
